WOW! What a production at the Ridge Meadows Home Show. There really is something for everyone.
My Highlights
The funnest and friendliest parking attendant ever!

Mayor Daykin driving the shuttle (love that shuttle service)

My first Owl in real life. Amazing. Gave me goosebumps.

Friday I stopped by a few booths to chat with some exhibitor friends, both old and new. Maple Washing is enjoying their first year at the home show, and their summer calendar is filling up really quickly. They are proud to be supporting one of the most exciting upcoming events in Maple Ridge, The 1st Annual Rotary Duck Race. Check out the duck race website and be sure to mark your calenders for this exciting event where you can enter to win a brand new Jeep sponsored by Maple Ridge Chrysler.

Golden Ears Cheeseworks is getting very close to opening their doors, and this has to be be one of the most anticipate business grand openings north of the Fraser, not to mention the most appetizing. This weekend, Golden Ears Cheeseworks is proudly displaying their new cheese labels: vintage family photographs! They are also giving away a beautiful raffle basket filled with local products they plan to carry in the retail section of the store.
Lastly, I had the pleasure of meeting Kathy Bartel from Music For Young Children. MYC is an innovative program that teaches the ” joy of playing and appreciating music” in a group setting. Kathy has been teaching in Maple Ridge for 16 years, and has been part of the Ridge Meadows Home Show for 10 years, which makes her a real home show pro!
The Ridge Meadows Home Show wraps up tomorrow. If your thinking about attending heed this last minute advice… make address labels to enter all those draws!
Set up has begun at this year’s Ridge Meadows Home Show, including the Outdoor Lifestyle show and Psychic Fair. And, it’s the youth of Maple Ridge that are running the show!

I met with Brittany, grade 11 student and lead of hostessing at RM Home Show. She’s responsible for for about 36 of the 130 youth volunteers who do tons of behind the scenes work to get this show up and running.

This is Brittany’s second year of volunteering, a job which she finds both challenging and rewarding. She’s got all sorts of responsibilities, from writing schedules, putting together press packages and visitor bags, making sure exhibitors are all checked in and coordinating her volunteers who work as greeters to exhibitors and public as well as parking and security. Of course, the biggest responsibility of all is making sure her team works together. There’s “ups and downs” as she calls them, but this chance at such responsibility will work in her favor when she applies to college.
These youth volunteers have all been recruited at through local high schools, and they attend a meeting, get a tour and read a manual. Over the weekend, they’ll put in tons of hours making sure that the Home Show runs smoothly. Brittany is planning on being on site all weekend, working as well as enjoying all the cool things at the home show while envisioning her own future home.
When your out enjoying everything this year’s Home Show has to offer, rest assured that yes, our future is in good hands.
