The CP Holiday Train rolls into Maple Ridge
Did you catch the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train this year? It was by far, my favorite holiday event. What could be more Canadian than a train rolling into a small community, dropping the side of a boxcar to reveal a band that plays a concert for the townspeople? If you weren’t there to see it, then you absolutely must mark it on your calender for next year.
Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows deserve a big gold star for contributions made to the Holiday Train campaign. The amount of money and donations collected this year puts the Port Haney stop at the top again for most successful stops in Canada. But our work is not done- our contributions are still needed at the Maple Ridge Christmas Haven.
This is the 13th year for Christmas Haven, a Christmas eve dinner celebration at the Maple Ridge Baptist church. Dubbed “You Don’t Have To Be Alone”, this event serves dinner to upwards of 500 members of our community, and includes a visit from Santa and children’s activities.
This event relies on community support and you can still help. Donate a turkey to the Salvation Army at The Caring Place until Dec 28th, or make a donation of cash or gifts at Maple Ridge or Pitt Meadows Leisure Center.

Well, I’ve officially published 101 posts and this celebratory post is the weekly Best On The Block award.
I could not help but notice this flashing spectacle of lights on St. Anne Ave in central Maple Ridge. In fact, I spotted in from a few blocks away, It’s tidy, mesmerizing and a perfect candidate for a quick video.

Indulge at Delizie Italiane
Yes folks, this is the last rush before Christmas. What you do this weekend probably depends on whether or not you’ve successfully completely all your shopping.
Consider shopping at local niche stores to avoid long line-ups.
Visit Santa at Valley Fair Mall. Insiders know that it’s here that Santa has time to sit and chat with the children, showing them just how much he’s been watching them all year. See Santa’s hours on the mall’s website.
Well, then you may have time to grab a coffee and a treat at Delizie Italiane on Lougheed Hwy. They have an amazing selection of pastries- and since it’s holiday time, might as well resign yourself to indulgence.
You may also have time to enjoy some local art and culture at the Ensemble Show at the Maple Ridge Art Gallery. The month long show, featuring emerging artists, ends this Sunday Dec 19.
Then consider taking a safe trip home with Operation Red Nose.
