by Andrea
June 29th, 2012

14 year singer/songwriter  old Ria Jade from Maple Ridge who sings “anything she feels like singing”, has  released her very first iTunes single, Anwhere But Here. Ria was recently featured on the news and on TV weeks ago after having been chosen among the 7 favourite music covers for a song by One Direction, a now very famous UK-based British boy band.  She also sings occasionally at open mics at the Kanaka Creek Coffee House   and the Gallagher’s Coffee Bar and Cafe in Port Moody.  You can meet Ria at  Canada Day 2o12 taking place in Memorial Peace Park, where she’ll be singing Oh Canada and God Save The Queen.  Festivities begin with the raising of the flag at 12:30, but come early to enjoy the Haney Farmer’s Market and stay for the entertainment, singing , dancing, activities and food.

Here’s a video of Ria’s latest song.  Follow Ria on twitter @riajadexo, and become a fan on Facebook.

Ria’s music is available on CD Baby

Jon Aaron, AKA Jonny Bones at Adstock 2011

Hollywood 3 Cinema’s HorrorShow (in Pitt Meadows) is  finishing up a freaky year of monthly late night  classic horror films with  The Rocky Horror Picture Show  on Friday, July 29th.  I caught up with Jonny Bones, mastermind behind the shows to talk about the spine chilling success.

MMR:  Congrats on one year, has it exceeded your expectations?

Jonny: Many thanks. Its been a crazy year, with tons of amazing films, great opening acts & A great following of dedicated fans. I couldn’t be happier with how these nights are turning out.

MMR: Film Choice, has it been all yours?  What’s your all-time-fav?

Jonny: For the most part I do pick the films myself. I’m an avid film & horror fan so I usually know in advance what i want to show Next. Although, sometimes I can’t decide & when that happens I leave it up to the fiends…. Errr… Fans to pick what they want to see. I also encourage people to post film idea’s on our Facebook page . My all time favorite film is definitely Evil Dead, which is why I choose it to be our first fright film to ever grace our screen. But a few other faves so far have been Dead Alive, Texas Chainsaw Massacre & American Werewolf In London.

MMR: How did it all start?

Jonny: The idea started after The Rio theater downtown stopping showing their midnight horror double features. Which I attended as often as humanly possible. I saw that the old Harris road cinema was going to be re-opening under a new owner. So having many years o projection experience from working as Cineplex in my youth, i decided to drop off my resume. After a few months working there i decided to put my plan into action & pitched the idea to the owner. He went for it & I’ve been turning out the terror to our sadistic little suburb ever since!

MMR: What’s up for year Two?

Jonny: This year I plan on continuing to bring on the fear. Next month (July) marks our 1 year anniversary & I’ll be showing Evil Dead II: Dead By Dawn. I thought it would be the perfect way to celebrate as our first film ever screen was Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead! For our 2nd year anniversary i plan to complete the trilogy with Army of Darkness. Also, starting this month (June) our whole theater has switched to digital HD projectors so know the terror will look better than ever!

MMR: Anyone to thank?

Jonny: I have a ton of fiends to thank. First off Rahim & the Hollywood 3 for taking a chance on a poor ghoul like me. Big thanks to the horror horde & all the little creeps that keep coming back month after month. Thanks to my pops for always coming out to give a hand, even though he hates horror films. And finally a big thanks to all of my sinister sponsors who donate awesome prizes every month: Sector 2814 comics & toys, Outer Limits Skate Shop, Wes Tattoos’, Moz Hair Studio, Mothers Brew Tea & Little Shop Of Movies!

I’ve got  a pair of tickets  to July’s Horrorshow to give away- here’s how you can win
