A Look Back at 2011

by Andrea
December 29th, 2011

What a year! Let’s look back, shall we?

The 3 most popular posts of the year:

Albion Hall Teardown.  On May 28th 2011, I was heading out for the day when I caught the Hall being torn down. Totally impromptu- and was the most read post of the year.

Therapy Dog Days For a whole week, we met the dog volunteer of St John’s Ambulance Dog Therapy Program. For a whole week stats on My Maple Ridge were flying.  So happy to have spread the word about these 4 legged volunteers.

And once again… the Christmas Craft Fair list made the top posts.  Everyone really does love a craft fair.  As always, it’s free and easy to list your event on mymapleridge.ca.  Just send an email to andrea@mymapleridge.ca with event details.

Great Things Happened This Year

Lots of great things happened North of the Fraser River.

Golden Ears Cheeseworks opened.  Albion Elementary is finally  getting a cross-walk.  Ridge Meadows Tweet Up raised food and money for the food bank. The first Ridge Meadows Help Portrait Event was a huge success, and…

we had a Duck Race

My Favorite Moments

The Cats at Katie’s Place.  Definitely my favorite moments of the year were  spent with these fun felines and their amazing volunteer caregivers.

Adstock. Great concert. Can’t wait for 2012. Period.  Oh,   and this photo won awards at Maple Ridge Country Fest

And, the impromptu article about the 240th Mural Repaint.  Nothing like meeting talented locals.  Here’s hoping 2012 brings me more special moments.

Thank you to all the local business who participated in our features, who supported RM Tweet Up and Help Portrait  Ridge Meadows, and to all the readers who stopped by to check out My Maple Ridge. Cheers to 2012!

CPR Holiday Train 2011

by Andrea
December 16th, 2011

Canadian Pacific  is pulling it’s decorated holiday  train into the station at Maple Ridge around 4:15 this Saturday, Dec 17 2011. You don’t want to miss this local holiday tradition!

Of course, the most important part is bringing your donation for Friends In Need Food Bank!

This year, the train is bringing Canadian folksinger Valdy, and indie musician Tracey Brown. The party starts at 3 pm out front of the Billy Minor Pub by the tracks in Maple Ridge. Or you can catch the train in Agassiz, or Port Moody

Here is the official schedule for Dec 17 in British Columbia

Agassiz – 2:00 p.m., west of Highway 9, across from Agra Centre, Pioneer Ave
Maple Ridge – 4:15 p.m., across from Billy Minor Pub
Port Moody – 5:45 p.m., on Queen St. at Clark Ave
